Our young people face so many challenges that sometimes it becomes too blurred for them to see the greatness within them. I want to empower, encourage, and support them on their journey to be positive and successful influential leaders. While I did leave for a period of time for another opportunity, I felt drawn to come back.
This is due to the amazing management team whose priority is children as well as staff. While working at the Richard L. Bean Detention Center, which is a totality different type of facility, programing has to be conducted as an adventure for these 12 to 17 year-olds.
Even after their release from jail, I continue to case manage these youth for one year. They have no one to express their thoughts or concerns to — no one who pushes them to set goals.
